Set up this blog to record my activities to set up Winkplay as the cool wall Ink.

Taking Uncle Stanley’s advice, now, trying to get a designer in to help with the designs, as well as many marketing material requirements.

We are having a hard time deciding on the packaging type.
Whether Vinyl record sleeve type or a plastic bag with cardboard backing type.

One great idea is to have the handle in there so as to ease the carrying as the product is quite large and might not fit in plastic bags.

Exploring the use of the plastic card as squeegee has also been challenging as we want something that is both cool, nice, doubles as squeegee and can be re-used as something else after the application.

Let’s see what comes out from tonight’s brainstorming.

Here’s the conceptualised namecard printed and the back of the cardboard sleeve packaging. Hope you like it.

Finally, the website is out.
I received eFusion’s first and am happy with their mockup as seen above.
It was received on a Thur and I gave them the go ahead.

However, next tue, I received the new one from Sheryo and sad for eFusion, I decided to go with Sheryo’s.

Here it is:

I had a tough decision on which one to decide, so started asking around for comments.
Glad to have my panel of jury with me :-)

Just finished Anthony Robbins’ “Power to Influence”.
Very powerful indeed. Lots of things to learn from in the tape about selling.

Will have to keep going back and incorporate the things in it.
Think I will begin with learning how to distinguish metaprogram of people first.

Just to give an example, there are people who just like to oppose or be different from the crowd. So if you meet someone who wants to go South when everybody else goes North, just use reverse pyschology. Hint that everyone is going South and he will go North :-)

Found out that Blik and VinylInspirations using an Oracal vinyl which no one in Singapore carries.

So that means I would have to spend a major amount on inventory to bring them in.
Have yet to get the quote, but that would impact leadtime and inventory costs as well as color selection.

After doing some research, one type from Macal should work too but again, no one in Singapore carries that. Seems like Singapore has a very small market for vinyl.

Going to check out how much vinyl cutter costs. Prob worth investing in one given the high cost of cutting.

Finally got the final packaging design as well as a shock. It was told to me that it cost $1500 for both the web layout and the packaging!
This is a real surprise because both are supposed to be free, done out of fun and goodwill.
Of course, I understand that the packaging is a lot of work but this certainly comes as a shock due to its after-the-factness.

However, those are some really good work done, so should be worth every penny.

I will let you decide if it is worth it once you got our product, seen the packaging and squeegee. Let me know ok?

Was advised that the vinyl that I am looking for is not available anywhere in Singapore and has to be imported in just for Wink. Leadtime given was 8 weeks. Since Wink will be the only one using this and no one else in Singapore is, that has a lot of iimplications:

1. Any stocks shortage will lead to a very long wait for customers

2. Will also lead to some colors being short and thus less choices

3. Cost will go up due to the shipping and logistics invovled.

After doing lots of research and searching, finally found an alternative :-)

So Wink will still be launched as it is intended to be - removable wall decals at affordable pricing.

It was tough choosing from the myriad fonts to come up with a set for Winkspirations.
Trojan is definitely in. Likewise for Wink’s home font - VAR Rounded.
All times favourite Time New Roman and Arial are in as well. Any suggestions?

I think I will also start to share the ideas that I have over at this blog, so that you can comment and feedback. Should one gather much momentum, that will be signal to start working on that idea.

I am going to start a new category called Ideation and put my future posts in there.
